CARcass on shore

CARcass1.jpg

Walking along Chesterman Beach (on our trip a month ago), we were intrigued by something in the distance,
hulking half-buried in the sand and washed over by the waves.

CARcass2.jpg

Horrified to see that it's a rusted frame of an automobile... how did it get there?
Yet morbidly fascinated by the interesting rusted shapes of the frame and the almost organic center.

CARcass3.jpg

Like a beached skeleton of some sea monster...

Appalling yet beautiful. I particularly like your photo which shows the sea still on one side and spumy on the other.

That's so bizarre, and amazing!

The first photograph looks like a great candidate for qarrtsiluni's upcoming theme. It's so beautiful.

That says it well, M-L.

Dramatic photographs. They says a lot about the fragility of the techology that we depend on, and the pathos that ensues when it founders.

Very cool. I would've been ecstatic with such a find - as you say, the analogy with beached whales is irresistible.

Thanks, everyone! It WAS a thrilling find.

And yes, Erika, it would have been good for qarrtsiluni but I forgot and it's too late now, for they prefer stuff not already posted on blogs.

We sometimes make an exception for images, Marja-Leena...

What great photos! I especially like the top one. What a find.

Really, Beth? Then I may just try submitting this. Thanks for your appreciation.

Fascinating!
