stones or bones?

Looking through some of my old photos, I was again struck by these interesting rocks on the Saanich peninsula on southern Vancouver Island, taken in the summer of 2005. They make me think of weathered old bones of some prehistoric creature.

Softer rock dissolved by the acids in the water, leaving the more resistent rock in place. They Are like old bones, and I often fantasize that our planet is in metaphorical fact Leviathan of the Hebrew Bible, and that we are walking on its immense back.

Peter, the Leviathan fantasy sounds great to me! Better than thinking of MY old bones...

Bones of the earth, was what I was thinking, too. Neat photos, Marja-Leena.

Little sense of scale with them, either which opens up more possibilities. next time you're at mine check out SIMON WHITE PHOTOGRAPHS on my links (sorry, don't have link to hand...), he gets similar effects. Great images.
