| My work reflects the passages of time.
Past, present and future are assembled through an evolution of external
and internal, spiritual and physical research. The work takes shape
through an arrangement of accumulated layers, images and icons,
overlapping, exposing and concealing information.
The Mask series began as a voyage of personal discovery
that combined my interest in both two and three-dimensional work.
I cast a mould of my face from which I created paper masks. Drawings,
found materials and images from my prints were applied to the masks.
Scanning these masks into the computer initiated a deeper probe
into the past, that of my Anglo-Norman, Irish heritage. As a result
the Hibernian series was born.
Both the Mask and Hibernian series demonstrate
computer-generated images employing both etching and digital techniques
in the finished piece. |
