hand with ammonite
the artist’s hand with ammonite
Another of the hand-with-objects images originally created for qarrtsiluni’s worship issue.
The others in the series:
the artist’s hand with kelp
the artist’s hand with stones
the artist’s hand with physalis
artist’s hand with pen, part of the series but not in qarrtsiluni
Added March 4th: I happened across another hand-with-object I had forgotten from two years ago. For this grouping I think I shall call it artist’s hand with heart.

It looks like a miniature jade nautilus in your hand.
ps: I’m still having to type in my info with every comment.
Susan, I’m really sorry about that info entry problem with commenting, I’m having the same issue. I’m hoping that this, and some other details with the new blog design will get fixed soon. J has been incredibly busy with work, so fingers crossed that things are easing. I just don’t know how to do all that tech stuff myself. Thanks for your patience.
Nice. I think the kelp is my favorite. I went back and looked at the two physalis ones–the scan and the photograph. The photograph has the same suggestion of a worn golden artifact…
Marly, I’m glad you looked at the scan of the physalis alone for that is a favourite of mine, like gold – yes. All these images are scans, by the way, while they are also photographs at the same time.
Hmm, interesting that I knew that but seemed to be making a distinction–why, I wonder? Lint in the brain or something more…
What interesting lines in your palm, Marja-Leena! I don’t read palms but know someone who does and somewhere I have a book on the subject. Maybe I should look it up and work out what your hand is saying?
Marly, you are just too busy, that’s all! It is a little confusing I admit, calling these scans AND photos, for they really are all photos using different cameras, aren’t they?
Natalie, I’ve never had my palm read though I’ve tried those books or sites. Let me know if you find the answers… I am curious.
Careful! Your life is in your hands!
XD
There’s something particularly touching about this one — maybe it’s the scale of the ammonite in your hand, along with its perfection. What a wonderful contribution to the “Worship” theme these are!
Marly – heh, maybe I don’t want a reading of my palm after all!
Beth, thanks. I’m enjoying revisiting these pieces and am now thinking of prints.
