Last weekend I received a magnificent bouquet of sunflowers from a visiting sister-in-law. Sadly they wilted some days later so I cut the heads off to spread on a plate, and scanned the freshest looking one for posterity. Sunflowers are so appropriate right now as we are having a very warm Indian summer. May the sun shine on you too, my dear readers!

I find the backside - the part not usually observed - more interesting than the front view, though both are good images. I can almost feel the petals, not quite dry, but no longer as plump with life as they once were.

You make the most interesting images with your scanner, Marja-Leena!

Martha, thanks, I too love the back view more. The scanner is certainly one of my favourite tools.

Sorry to have missed this, but I absolutely adore the second image! Its massiveness, the sculptural quality...

Beth, I'm glad you love this. I'm very pleased how this turned out.
